The PowerPlay

The Nexus Alpha LPS AERAK media player is very different from your average media player. Instead of emerging from advertising, the AERAK family is derived from over a decade of experience in the public transport sector where the data content and style or presentation is as important as the media output - ultimately more so. In a transport environment, AERAK offers levels of data presentation, flexible configuration and functionality that conventional media players do not achieve.

AERAK can be supplied as an independent unit, or integrated into our high-resilience class-leading LCD displays - our HELIOS Range. Independent units can be customised to client requirements and supplied for indoor or outdoor installation.

AERAK COMMS
AERAK units support wired network, Wi-Fi or cellular modem (3G/4G). Cellular modems can use any network, indeed our systems will support attached hardware using a mix of networks, thus ensuring each unit communicates using the best available connection. Security is key: the AERAK unit establishes a VPN through whatever channel is available to our servers.

Since neither server nor display system accepts any executable command (actions are triggered by running
pre-existing Nexus Alpha LPS code) the communication methodology is extremely secure.

Display Capability

The AERAK unit is able to show a vast array of content which can be configured to client requirements. Displayed content can include:

Public Transport Data

This includes bus and rail departures (via protocols including Darwin LDB, SIRI, GTFS and others), as well as Nexus Alpha Tyrell IO route disruption (for UK train operators), TfL Underground rainbow boards, and train operator route statuses (supplied via Nexus Alpha). Real-time updates, scheduled services, and route statuses any disruption can all be displayed.

High Quality Video & Stills

The Display Administration Suite (DAS) enables users to construct reels of content (comprising both images and video) which can be scheduled for display by AERAK on the display panel. Scheduling can be for one-off presentation or for any combination of days of the week between multiple time bands, all date controlled. This allows future schedules for bank holidays or detailing timetable amendments to be loaded up in advance for display at the appropriate time.

Messaging

Comprehensive messaging is supported, enabling the display of multiple messages either entered in real-time or in advance via the scheduling system. As well as sending messages via the DAS, external message content from third parties can be displayed alongside other content.

Nexus Alpha LPS has been developing class-leading hardware with astonishingly low power demand and minimal compromise for over 10 years. Our goal is to always push the boundaries of what’s possible using the latest technologies whilst always keeping flexibility and accessibility (DDA compliance with the Disability Act) at the heart of what we do. As well as our more traditional LCD based products, we have developed a wider range of highly versatile, ultra low power hardware that has been proven to operate reliably in the harshest of UK conditions – with systems running 24/7 in the North of Scotland using only solar power. With the best British design and engineering, and working with international partners, we focus on only the highest quality offerings so that you can be sure your products will last for many years to come.
